Weekend Highlight Reel

It was a pretty productive weekend if I do say so myself! We took Indy to his new park. It’s just a few blocks away from the house, and it’s yet another one of Denver’s awesome city parks-plenty of green space, paved trail, swimming pools, rec center, etc. It was cooler on Saturday morning, so it was a really nice time to take a walk with the pupper doo and let him get to better know his new area.

After we got back, we, well, more so Eric- I definitely helped with clean up, but not tear out- tackled cleaning up the back yard. It was pretty overgrown and there were dead branches hanging from the tree and sticks and leaves all over. I had to buy a rake ($), because we realized we didn’t have one. It was embarrassing.  Now it’s nice and clean and with some more watering we’re hoping all the grass comes back. . .

We did some other random household things, such as staining and installing transition strips ($), putting in new floor registers ($), and changing out some old light fixtures ($). I didn’t take pictures of that because who really cares about floor register and ceiling lights- you see one you see them all.

After those homeowner endeavors I got my bake on. I haven’t baked in I don’t know how long- I think the crappy St. Patty’s day cheese cake was my last hurrah! So I didn’t really end my streak with a bang. Anyhoo, I got back at it in the new kitchen- can I tell you how awesome it is to spread my mess all over? I mean seriously folks, no clean up as I went- just one big mess. It was lovely. I decided my first attempt needed to be cookies. Since I was out of chocolate chips and I refused to spend another dime (note: all the $ for the weekend!) this weekend Snickerdoodles were the winning recipe. They were a little thicker than the ones Eric’s mom makes, but they were given the taste seal of approval, and 3 were eaten while they were supposed to be cooling. They smelled amazing and if we had smell-o-blog available I would have saved the smell for you. Since we don’t you’re just stuck with the picture.

I also mailed our wedding invitations! We stayed up Friday night labeling and stamping them and Saturday they went to the post office!

That was the extent of our weekend. Up for next weekend: Trip back to Ohio for all sorts of fun and excitement!
