Closing of 2012

We didn't do anything for New Years. I mean really truly nothing. We did so little we were in bed at 10:00 on New Year's Eve. Yep, we're old, boring and proud. The highlight of New Year's Eve was the showdown Indy had with a squirrel. Yep, I'm serious. Indy sat perfectly still on the patio staring the squirrel down while the squirrel climbed up and down the fence trying to cross the back yard. The squirrel knew he wasn't getting across the back yard without a battle. However, he thought that by climbing down the fence, waiting a minute and thinking that Indy would stop guarding his yard, he would win. Stupid squirrel.
You can see the squirrel on the top of the fence in the middle.

This picture was 10 minutes after the first one. . .

He has NEVER sat this still for any purpose, food included!

The squirrel gave up after 25 minutes and Indy came back inside.

The Holidays

Eat, Drink and Be Merry! Check, check and check! While we didn't do any big family gatherings or events for the holidays we still had a great time. Since it was our first Christmas married we decided we might want to try and blend the traditions we grew up with and create some of our own. Not sure we really finalized anything, but we had fun coming up with options. Some of the things we did were. . .

Baking: All sorts of holiday goodies
Gingersnaps
Rum Balls
Chipotle Truffles
Mint Sugar Drops
Ice Skating: in Evergreen; Yes, I fell on my butt. No one should be surprised

Going to Tuba Christmas: In downtown Denver; 300+ Tubas performing
Cooking & Eating: Porchetta (Italian pork roast) and other yummy dishes

Broccoli and cauliflower gratin
Potato gallette

Merry Christmas!

We watched a bunch of Christmas movies- Year without a Santa Claus, Home Alone, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Rudolph just to name a few.
