Hops!!

As you all know by now Eric is an avid home brewer. His last 4 or 5 batches of beer have been really successful and yummy so he's been very pleased. Since he is frequenting the beer store more often he happens to come across the more random and unique brewing items they stock. A few weekends ago he found hop rhizomes and bought them. I of course asked why once he got them home and his standard smart-ass reply was "to plant them" {eye roll}

Well yesterday Eric planted said rhizomes and pictures documenting the process and apparatus are below. If these are successful Eric will eventually not have to buy hops for brewing since he'll have enough to use his own. Hops, come to find out, grow vertically and rapidly so it really shouldn't be long until they take off and we have a hop crop :)

Like I said, hops grow vertically so support for the vine-y vertical growth had to be created.

My contribution to the project

I can't eat it so I particularly don't care.

The finished product. I call it the "hop mast"

Upon inspection, I think it can pass muster. That said, I'm still not understanding your motives for planting something that I cannot eat.

Brooke & Ryan's Wedding

When we were back in Ohio two weekends ago we went to our friends' Brooke and Ryan's wedding in Norwalk. The wedding was beautiful, the bride was gorgeous and the reception was well obnoxious thanks to our group of friends :) We never really behave in public when we're all together- oh well! I snagged a few pictures at random points in the evening for your enjoyment.

It was a nice sunny day a couple weekends ago and I decided to take some pictures of the yard in bloom.
