As you all know by now Eric is an avid home brewer. His last 4 or 5 batches of beer have been really successful and yummy so he's been very pleased. Since he is frequenting the beer store more often he happens to come across the more random and unique brewing items they stock. A few weekends ago he found hop rhizomes and bought them. I of course asked why once he got them home and his standard smart-ass reply was "to plant them" {eye roll}
Well yesterday Eric planted said rhizomes and pictures documenting the process and apparatus are below. If these are successful Eric will eventually not have to buy hops for brewing since he'll have enough to use his own. Hops, come to find out, grow vertically and rapidly so it really shouldn't be long until they take off and we have a hop crop :)

| Like I said, hops grow vertically so support for the vine-y vertical growth had to be created. |

| Drilling out the hole for the bottom pole support |

| My contribution to the project |
 |
| I can't eat it so I particularly don't care. |

| The finished product. I call it the "hop mast" |
 |
| Upon inspection, I think it can pass muster. That said, I'm still not understanding your motives for planting something that I cannot eat. |
