Broncos Game!

Three weekends ago was a busy weekend! Not only did we cook like crazy, but we went to a Broncos pre-season game! I'd never been to a Broncos game, so this was a ton of fun!

One of Eric's clients had the tickets and couldn't go so he gave the tickets to Eric. The tickets were Club Level! I was pretty excited, and let me just say that's a style of event attendance I could easily get used to :) Although, Eric told me what season tickets at the Club Level would cost so I won't be getting used to that style of event attendance any time soon. Actually I probably won't unless someone magically bestows us with a winning Mega Millions ticket.

Enjoy some of the pictures from the game!

More Food Stuffs

I'm done apologizing for being behind on updates. If you read this frequently enough you should expect nothing better. So we begin with happenings from three weeks ago.

Three weekends ago we went a little crazy in the kitchen and made a variety of things, peach frozen yogurt, dried cherries, zucchini bread and fruit cocktail. All turned out well. The peach frozen yogurt could have used a little more yogurt than peach puree; it was a little on the thinner {read: watery} side.

Just for Laughs

So as I'm playing fetch with Indy this morning his tennis ball turned to a mud ball between the dirt in the far end of the back yard and his slobber. I said to him, "Indy, your ball is dirty!". He picked it up off the ground and walked inside and put it in his water bowl as if to wash it clean. I had no words. Indy was clearly proud though. Look at that doggy smile!

Eye Spy . . .

Notice anything, umm . . . unconventional in the picture below?

No, I did not drink both of these bottles one night and forget where we put the recycle bin. This is an idea I found on Pinterest {if you don't know what this is look it up, it's amazing!}

Our plants do great in the morning and overnight and maintain moist soil very well, but once the blazing hot sun is up in the middle of the day we come home and it looks as though we haven't watered in weeks, when in reality it's only been a few hours.

This has science behind it, so of course my complete comprehension of this idea is a little fuzzy, but the general gist is when the soil is dry something to do with oxygen exchange occurs and the bottle releases water keeping the plants happy. I haven't tried this on anything other than the herbs yet, but they seem to be loving it!

Peach Butter

Peaches are in season here in Colorado and they are so good you're crazy not to make something fun with them. We bought quite a lot at the farmer's market last weekend and then our friend, Cody, gave us some more off of his peach tree!

I decided to use of the ones that were ripe so far I'd take a stab at peach butter. My apple butter is liked by many so I thought what the heck? why not peach butter? I did get a little ambitious in that I took this canning endeavor on during the week. I'm normally not that nutty, but things thankfully went well and I went from peaches to canned peach butter in 2 hours!

Bubbling peach goodness

peachy goodness with sugar added! It's almost butter!

It's butter waiting to be sealed

Six cans of yummy peachness :)
I'm thinking peach frozen yogurt for the rest of the peaches this weekend. . . I'll keep you updated!

We Have a Pantry!

Eric and I have been vying for a decent pantry space for awhile since we like to keep food on hand in quantities that allow us to not have to go to the grocery store every day. The pantry space was a definite selling point for both of us with the house. We finally got the shelving put together and got it organized and below is the final product!

Farmer's Market Trip

On Saturday we made a trip to the Cherry Creek Farmer's Market to pick up some in season yumminess.
Fresh sweet corn (Ohio corn is still way better!) and rhubarb

Fresh Palisade peaches.
Eric sees strawberry rhubarb pie and peach butter in his future :)

Of course, we picked up some things not needed, but highly desired.  . .

We came across a Pierogi booth, and I've never said no to a pierogi, so of course we stopped. There is a new Polish restaurant and vodka bar ( I can do without the vodka part- ICK!) that opened in downtown Denver. To gain interest they opened a booth at the Farmer's Market. We had pork filled pierogis. Holy. Cow. Amazing! I think we'll definitely be headed to the Polish(ed) Tavern pretty soon!

We came home after our adventure and found some ready for picking peppers in our own back yard! The banana peppers were ready to be chopped up and put on grill pizzas for the Broncos game Saturday night!
